Gold Star New Home Program

The Gold Star New Home program was introduced in October 2019 and offers incentives to builders who increase the energy efficiency of newly built homes by at least 10% above current Washington and Idaho state energy code standards. Washington state’s energy code is one of the strictest energy codes in the nation and already has many energy efficiency requirements that builders must to adhere to. Constructing a home 10% above state energy efficiency standards is possible when builders team up with expert energy raters. Inland Power is happy to partner with these qualified companies.

For members interested in this option, you must choose a builder who will work with a 3rd-party rater from the beginning of construction until the completion to assure that all of the programs requirements are satisfied.

Home-buyers have the opportunity to purchase a home from, or to work with, a participating builder to help choose which energy efficient measures will be incorporated when building a custom home. In addition to the savings members receive on their energy bills, homes built to higher standards of energy efficiency are more sustainable, build better neighborhoods and lessen the environmental impact of the home.

If you’re considering building, or buying a newly built home, consider choosing a home built to the energy efficiency standards of Inland Power & Light's Gold Star New Home program.
