Looking for answers? We're responding to some frequently asked questions.

As a valued member of the Inland Power community, you might have questions about your service, billing, or the different programs we provide. To assist you, we’ve gathered answers to some of the most commonly asked questions from our Member
Experience Team.
Our main goal is to meet your needs and offer friendly support for any projects or requests you may have concerning your electric service.
How can I conveniently manage my account?
We encourage our members to take advantage of the convenient account management tools offered through the SmartHub app. This user-friendly platform
allows you to:
• View your monthly statements
• Pay your bill
• Receive outage alerts and messages
To create your SmartHub account, simply visit inlandpower.com/smarthub. Additionally, we suggest that members consider our paperless billing option and budget billing for greater convenience. To activate these features on your account, call or text (509)747-7151 or email inlandpower@inlandpower.com.
What does right-of-way clearing mean?
You expect reliable energy, which is why Inland Power is committed to protecting the
integrity of our electrical system. Trees and branches that encroach on or fall onto power lines can lead to outages, fires, and serious accidents. Additionally, tree roots can harm underground lines. Both scenarios pose risks to people and property and can disrupt essential community services.
Our vegetation management program is designed to minimize tree-related power
outages. Inland adopts a systematic approach to proactively patrol, trim, and
remove trees to reduce fire hazards and ensure reliability:
• Regularly trim trees on a scheduled basis
• Remove hazardous or dead trees near right-of-ways
• When necessary, Inland Power will mow right-of-ways to keep areas free of excessive vegetation and trees
Inland Power is dedicated to collaborating with property owners throughout the trimming and removal process. As a complimentary service, we will disconnect the service wire (the line connecting the transformer to the meter) if you decide to remove a tree near that wire.
All green limbs will be chipped. Dead limbs will be removed from the site. Wood will
be left on-site in piles for your use. For information about the wood left on-site, you can utilize resources like 211 or the Nextdoor app. If you would like, logs can be
cut to firewood lengths upon request, either made in person during the on-site work or by contacting our office to add a note to your account.
Additionally, we provide complimentary wood chips; please visit getchipdrop.com for more information.
What are some of the rebate programs IPL offers?
Inland Power, through the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA), offers a variety of incentive rebate programs to provide savings to members whose projects qualify. Members can participate in an application process to submit rebate requests for the following home equipment and appliances: advanced smart thermostat, clothes washer (using electrically heated water), electric clothes dryer, window and door

How do I report an outage?
There are many ways to report an outage for your property including through your SmartHub account from the Contact Us – Report Power Outage link, through our automated line at 877-668-8243 or 509-747-7151, option 5, or with a Member Experience Representative at 509-747-7151, option 0. My usage seems high and I haven’t changed anything. What could be going on?
Common culprits of an unusually high bill can include, but are not limited to, a heat source being stuck in emergency heat mode, a faulty water heater, or a leaking well pump. There could be factors at play but if you are unable to determine the cause of the higher usage, we offer a no-cost energy audit where an Inland Power auditor will meet with you at your home and try to help identify where the excess usage is coming from along with suggestions on improving energy efficiency in your home. If you would like to request an energy audit appointment for your home, please contact us at 509-747-7151, option 0 or email at conservation@inlandpower.com.
How can I get power installed to my new residential build?
If you are ready to start the process to bring power to a new service, it all begins with an application. For residential service and meter installation, please visit inlandpower.com/residential-applications and complete the Residential – Low Density application. The quickest way to submit your application is via email at newservice@inlandpower.com. We will contact you within 1-3 business days with an email on how to pay your staking appointment fee. Once payment is received,
our scheduler will contact you within 1-3 business days to schedule an
on-site engineering appointment.
What is the service availability charge on my bill?
The service availability charge is our basic operating fee to help cover fixed costs like maintenance and insurance on the lines. It is essentially the cost of having service available and ready to use when you are, regardless of usage.
We want to address your inquiries and will continue to respond to other commonly asked questions in upcoming Light Reading issues, so be sure to stay on the lookout for future articles.
