PURPOSE OF POSITION
The meter coordinator position is responsible for the coordination of Inland Power and Light’s meter flow and will ensure accurate meter tracking while maintaining appropriate inventory levels. This position will perform AMI module change outs, meter inspections and minor meter-related repairs. Will work closely with the AMI application specialist to verify accurate module communications on new and re-furbished meters. Responsible for the installation and inspection of single-phase electric meters and will perform opt-out meter reads.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs in-field single phase meter changes-outs as assigned.

Inspects in-service field meters and connections for defects, damages and unauthorized connections. Report irregularities.

Carry out module change outs and ensure AMI application specialist has verified proper communications with repaired and updated meters.

Works as the liaison between meter shop, IT, and warehouse to insure accurate meter tracking and appropriate inventory levels.

Establishes and manages a meter return system to address meters returning from the field and coordinating with meter shop and warehouse on distributing and managing meters for repairs, testing, and return to inventory.

Manages accurate meter tracking of all returned meters and prioritizes repairs based on current inventory levels and workflow.

Accurately read and record meter readings for residential and commercial opt-out customers using computerized meter reading system.

Performs weekly inspections and repairs of returned meters for defects, damages, and any irregularities. Ensures meters are in a return to service state by confirming they are accurate, clear of any defects and meter is properly secured.

Works closely with meter shop and warehouse on distributing meters for Poly phase meter testing and batch testing. Will be the point of contact to distribute meters to meter shop and returning meters to inventory.

Removes unrepairable and salvaged meters from inventory and disposes meters in accordance with IP&L guidelines.

Sorts and prioritizes service orders each day to perform work in assigned work area.

Prepares various reports and records including mileage, meter maintenance, in for repair/testing inventory, S&Ms, transfers and expense accounts.

May direct activities of personnel in equal or lower classifications.

Utilizes computer to access meter information for complaints, inspection orders, billing, and locations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS​

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Requires a valid driver's license.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS
-
Knowledge of utility accounting systems.

Additional experience in electronics is desirable.

Must be proficient at the use of a personal computer and familiar with Microsoft Office Suite, i.e. Outlook, Excel, Word.

Other combinations of education/experience may be considered.
PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS

A valid CDL driver’s license preferred.

Understanding of relevant environmental concerns.
