Inland Power & Light has been working with our members who are financially impacted by COVID-19 and we are committed to continue as we all work through these challenging times.

In the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, Inland Power made the decision to waive late fees and suspend disconnections for nonpayment to help members impacted by the pandemic. Later, the governor of Washington issued a proclamation to mandate the suspension of disconnection of utilities for nonpayment and waive late fees, which is set to expire Aug. 1, 2020.

Inland Power will continue to work with our members beyond the Aug. 1 expiration date and has developed COVID-19 customer support programs.

As of Aug. 1, 2020, Inland Power & Light will implement the following procedures regarding late fees, disconnections and payment arrangements:

  1. No late fees or disconnections will be processed until Aug. 31, 2020. This gives members 31 days to either bring their accounts to current status or establish a payment arrangement. A payment arrangement or contract outlines a plan to pay the outstanding balance over a period of time in a manner that is acceptable to both the member and cooperative when the outstanding balance is too much to pay in a single payment.
  2. Members who establish a payment arrangement before 5 p.m. on Aug. 31, 2020, will not be charged a late fee or be subject to disconnection through the duration of the payment arrangement, as long as the arrangement is not broken.
  3. Payment arrangements can be extended up to 6 months, depending on the amount that is past due. This provides members a way to pay their current and past due balances without being disconnected or charged late fees. It is required that members coordinate with Inland Power to activate an authorized payment arrangement extension. Members who are unable to be reached by Inland Power and fail to contact the cooperative by the Aug. 31 deadline will be subject to fees and disconnection.
  4. When billing is processed on the final day of the payment agreement, and thereafter, all late fees and disconnections will follow the normal Inland Power & Light procedures.

Inland Power is actively reaching out to members who have past due balances to ensure they are aware of the financial assistance programs that are available. However, it is ultimately the responsibility of the member to ensure they contact Inland Power to set up an arrangement.
