Inland owns and operates limited and discrete transmission facilities that do not, by themselves, form an integrated transmission grid. Instead, most of Inland's transmission needs are met through a contractual arrangement with the Bonneville Power Administration. Nevertheless, we stand ready to assist parties needing transmission services creatively and cost-effectively in ways that do not burden the customers who rely on our cooperative for retail electric services.
Coordination with Other Transmission Providers Likely Transmission service from Inland would, in all likelihood, not be sufficient to move power from a generation source to the intended power market (destination). Instead, transmission applicants would probably have to make arrangements, as well, with other transmission owners having facilities interconnecting Inland's facilities with the intended destination.
Responding to Inquiries about Transmission Service Two options are available for inquiring about transmission service from Inland; "informal inquiries" and "formal request for transmission service" as described below.
Informal Inquiries: An "informal inquiry" exists when a party simply wants to explore options-that is, they are not yet ready to formally request transmission service. We are pleased to deal with these preliminary inquiries, which can provide valuable input for our ongoing transmission planning activities. Reimbursement of costs to respond to such inquiries, if significant, may be required.
Formal Requests for Transmission Service A "formal request for transmission service" exists when a party submits, in writing and in accordance with Inland's requirements, an actual request to transmit a specified amount of power from one location to another using an existing Inland-owned transmission line.
Such formal requests will be processed in compliance with rules established by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) along with Inland's established policies and procedures. An agreement to pay Inland's ongoing costs, fees and expenses related to the application will be required. Contact Inland Personnel for More Details
